DT Week - Baking Biscuits ๐ช๐ฉโ๐ณ๐งโ๐ณ
We had an exciting week testing and developing our own biscuits and the children learnt many baking tips and tricks. For example, you must make sure to mix any added ingredients such as chocolate into the dough and not just place them on the top as this causes them to burn. We discussed the difference between a company logo and a specific biscuit’s packaging design as well as creating our own bags using origami.

Science - Identifying the organs in the digestive system ๐๐๐ฝ












After learning all about what happens to an apple after it enters the mouth, and asking lots of questions about where a baby grows because there is acid in the stomach, we created our own 3D diagrams of the digestive system using play dough.
Art - Creating art in the style of Archimboldo ๐ฅฌ๐๐ ๐ผ
Geography - Exploring where rainfall goes when it falls to earth ๐ง๐ง๐ชจ




We learnt that when rain falls from the sky to the earth it can continue to travel down as run off or by infiltrating and then percolating the material it falls on. We investigated which materials rain might infiltrate and what my cause rain to run off.

Science - Understanding how particles are different in solids liquids and gases! ๐งช๐งช


In science today children were left fascinated and highly curious about how our world is made! They understood that everything in our world is made from different types of particles and atoms. After grasping how particles are arranged differently in solids, liquids and gases they began to ask many philosophical questions such as:
Is god made of atoms?
Who made particles?
Feel free to discuss these at home!

Over the past two weeks we have been exploring poetry by the black poet Valerie Bloom. We have written metaphors about her home country (Jamaica) and even learnt to say some words in Jamaican patois! We have sung about ‘Pinda Cake’ and written poems inspired by her poem ‘Granny is’
