As a way of developing children’s life skills linked to future employment and longer term aspirations we are advertising for and appointing children to specially designed ‘jobs’ that they can undertake in school. Children will have the opportunity to experience the process of applying for a job and completing an application form, taking account of job descriptions and associated responsibilities.
The positions available will include: ‘Digital Leader’, ‘Learning Leader’ and ‘Ruach Leader’ among others. If children are interested, they will be asked to formally apply for a position and then, if appropriate, take part in an ‘interview’. Successful candidates will be invited take up their posts for a fixed period of time. Children will receive payment in house-points.
Pupils will be expected to carry out their duties for the prescribed length of the role (usually 1 term), they will be made well aware that this is a commitment. Should they prove ineffective in carrying out their jobs, they may be released from their duties early. Whilst this is as close to a real life process as possible, at all times we will be sensitive to individual children’s needs. Guidance, support and encouragement will be given throughout.
We would appreciate parental support; however we would like to encourage our children to be as independent as possible in this exciting initiative. The thought that has gone into the application, as well as the presentation of it, will be taken into account when the Senior Leadership Team reviews them all.
